Ten steps to getting back on track spiritually
Getting off track spiritually is not hard. Just read the Bible and think about the time when God’s people fell off the wagon. In 605BC, God’s people were swept away into Babylonian captivity because they failed to follow God’s laws. God’s Sabbatical law stated that a person should work the land for six years and then rest for one year. Sadly, the Jewish people did this 70 times!
Daily time with God
If you want to learn how to get back on track spiritually by spending more time with God, start by finding ways to incorporate more quiet time in your daily routine. Whether you want to pray for a few minutes or spend an hour in prayer, make time for God each day. If you don’t spend any time with God on a regular basis, start small and work up to longer sessions. You will quickly discover how beneficial it is for your life and your faith.
To get started, pick a comfortable chair with good lighting. Make sure you have a Bible and a highlighter handy. Afterwards, put together a daily agenda, indicating how much time you spend reading the Bible in each part. After a few days, you will begin to see how beneficial it is to spend time with God daily. And don’t forget to listen to your Bible as you read.
When you spend time with God each day, be honest with Him. Pour your heart out, and trust Him with whatever you are facing. Repentance requires a change in frame of reference and a decision to turn around. We need to change our perspective and be willing to accept the conditions that God has set for us.
“Repentance” is the action of changing your mind and making a complete commitment to the will of God. It is a continuous process that should influence every area of your life. By heeding the Holy Spirit, we sharpen this process and allow the Holy Spirit to guide us along God’s law. If we ignore the Holy Spirit, our repentance process becomes dull and unfruitful.
If you’ve done something wrong, you must repent of that sin. Taking time to sincerely apologize to God is a great start. Once you have done this, have a heart-to-heart with the Lord. Don’t be ashamed to discuss your specific sins, as they are part of the bigger picture. You’ll have a better chance of being forgiven when you’ve repented.
Jesus’ message was that the kingdom of God was coming, and it was up to us to change our direction to participate in it. The prodigal son, for example, asks his father early for his inheritance. Then he moves to a new city, lives a wild life and the whole country suffers famine. The same applies to a life without God. So, repentance is a spiritual way to get back on track.
We all experience moments in our lives when we fail to follow the Lord’s commandment to repent. Gratitude

This will help you develop a positive mindset, and will help you get back on track spiritually.
The practice of gratitude can also help you organize your day. When you’re in a good state, you tend to take your prosperity for granted. We believe that we’re invulnerable, until we experience a time when we realize that we’re powerless and vulnerable. Practicing gratitude helps us to recognize how fortunate we are and to appreciate our blessings. Then, we can apply that gratitude to our daily life and see how much better it makes us feel.
Accountability
One of the biggest struggles backsliders face is reconciling with God and restoring their relationship with Him. They fear rejection by God and being judged by others. Fortunately, there are many ways to get back on track. First, find accountability and support groups in your local church or online. For instance, you could join a secret Facebook group or Bible study led by older women in your church. Then, you can work on reaching your goals together.
